NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP -- The newest township board member is
ready to start serving his community.
Chris Roosen, 38, was sworn in Nov. 19 for a four-year term. The
account manager for Visteon
Corp.ration has lived in Northville Township for four years.
Roosen, who has assisted U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter and Attorney
General Mike Cox in their campaigns decided to run so he could represent
his neighbors.
"It's a fresh start for myself as a new guy," he said. "Our property
values are very strong. Our school district is excellent. I hope to
contribute to keep it as nice as it is now. Keep taxes low and services
high."
The subdivision where he lives is across the street from the new
Township Hall so being available won't be a problem for Roosen.
Township Clerk Sue Hillebrand said that Roosen seems objective and
reasonable. She has some advice Roosen can use to make the most of his
time on the board.
"Read everything that's distributed and ask questions," she said. "It
can be scary -- the first vote you have to make. Keep the constituents
in the forefront of your mind."
Township Manager Chip Snider said Roosen has already met with
department heads and has asked a lot of questions.
"He has an extremely open mind about the role of a trustee and is
willing to learn," he said. "He gives me the impression of someone with
boundless optimism."
